Electron Microscopy HDR Student Competition
On the 6th of September, 2017 an annual Electron Microscopy HDR students competition was held. 6 submissions from EIS and AIIM focussed on the applications of electron microscopy techniques to study MXene nanosheets, steel, metallurgical coke, (sub)nanometer sized catalyst and electrode materials for energy storage devices. All presentations were of a high standard.
The winner was Mr Long Ren, ISEM, AIIM, for his excellent talk “High-quality Artificial Vertically Stacked Heterostructure from Bi2O2-layered Materials” ($200 award) and the runner-up was Mr. Sudipta Pramanik, EMC, AIIM, for the talk “Evolution of Microstructure during the Plane Strain Compression of High Mn steel” ($100 award).
Congratulations to the winners and we look forward to see more excellent presentations next year.
Winner - Mr Long Ren
Runner Up - Mr Studipta Pramanik
